The festival is about cultivating different contexts for listening; one can listen alone, with others, on the street, in the park, or inside a dark room. It aims to be an arena for exploring how sound can be used as a meeting place for people, listening, and reflection.

This is the third time the festival is being held in Trondheim, but the first time the local branch of nyMusikk Trondheim is taking the main responsibility as the organizer. In Trondheim's contemporary music scene, it is the sum of the niche elements that create the breadth, and with key contributors and a good overview of the environment, they facilitate collaboration between local, national, and international actors.

They also aim to have an open and playful attitude towards what new music is and can be. Several world premieres are on the agenda, along with events for children and families. The festival’s concerts will mainly take place at Lademoen Church, in various rooms at Rosendal Theater, and other venues in the Lademoen, Svartlamon, and Buran areas.
