Here, the relationship between the human and the more-than-human is explored.

Skogsvariasjoner (Forest Variations) invites the audience into an interplay of human bodies, human-made sounds and objects, and the forest’s inherent natural symphony. As music and art are woven into the mysterious forest landscape, the boundary between nature and culture gradually dissolves.

Composer Ellen Lindquist created the work, which is performed and further developed through improvisation by percussionists Owen Weaver and Tor Haugerud, together with the acclaimed vocal ensemble Trondheim Voices. Sound design is by Tor Breivik.

The sculptural works, including instruments made of ceramic and wood, are created by craft artists Ingrid Becker and Tovelise Røkke-Olsen. Also part of the team are the performing art duo Signe Becker and Espen Klouman Høiner.

Expand the Experience at Rein Abbey

Join us for a wonderful historical walk through the beautiful grounds of Rein Abbey!

The youth guides from Kystpilegrimsleias Venner will bring moments from the rich history of Reins Kloster to life through staged theatrical scenes along the route. First, we will make a short visit inside the unique wooden church Rein Kirke. Rein Abbey is a key site along the Coastal Pilgrim Route, so this walk also gives you a small taste of a pilgrim journey. The walk is timed to fit with the concert experience Forest Variations (Skogsvariasjoner), which takes place afterward in Rein Forest.

Meeting point: Outside the entrance to the service building by Rein Church.

Accessibility: Much of the walk takes place along forest trails, partly uphill, and unfortunately it is not universally accessible.

“Lofoten Fisherman’s Lunch Pack”: Need a bite to eat? We offer a taste of what the fishermen from Rissa and Stadsbygd brought in their food chests when they rowed north to fish in Lofoten. The meal includes two hearty slices of “Lofot-kak” with cheese and cured sausage (“Lofot-kak” is a local bread baked with ingredients such as rye and syrup to ensure long shelf life), along with a bottle of water from Snåsa.
