Hybris: Coreographing Whiteness
by Jonas Øren (NO)
On stage, Øren wants to explore and renegotiate the concert format and uses rap lyrics and a language influenced by pop rap in the encounter with dance in his staging of his own self-performance. His queer whiteness is choreographed by the melanin-rich woman through appropriation and a need for strength.
Hybris: Choreographing Whiteness is a critical exploration of personal self-staging based on two popular cultural stereotypes that touch; the Americanized melanin-rich woman and the queer man. By looking at self-performativity both inside and outside the stage room, he wants to reflect an aspect of the present and the ways we communicate today.
