Familiekonsert: Let there be light

NyNorsk Messingkvintett, Marcus Davidson og Evelina Dembacke

Duration: 35-40 min.
Experience the sound and light from the beginning of the universe, from the Big Bang to the formation of the first stars.

Did you know that the universe was dark for over 100 million years after the Big Bang?

In the concert performance Let there be light, NyNorsk Messingkvintett, lighting designer Evelina Dembacke and composer Marcus Davidson take us 13.8 billion years back in time, to the creation of the universe and the birth of the stars. With lighting design, video, acoustic brass and sound recordings from the Vela pulsar and the Cassini probe, among others, the Big Bang is recreated and we are taken into a darkened universe, where only the "chord of the universe" remains as an echo of creation.

Light gradually emerges through the formation of the first stars.

The show is based on images from NASA's James Webb super telescope, which has made it possible to look further back in time than ever before. The telescope captures infrared light from the earliest period of the universe, and over the past year has presented unique images of the formation of the first stars. The so-called "chord of the universe" - the echo of the big bang, discovered by researcher Mark Whittle, (Virginia University, USA) is a remnant of electromagnetic radiation from the early phase of the universe. This radiation fills the entire room, giving us a snapshot of the universe 400,000 years after its formation.

The performance lasts approximately 35-40 minutes and is suitable for youth, adults and children aged 6 and up.
