Iridal – the valley of the rainbow

In this concert, we encounter contemporary and improvised music, in active interplay with simple, effective soundscapes. The sound and light come together to create captivating, exciting spaces that open the creative inner world for young ears.

The sound is foreign, exciting, different – the instruments are used in creative and unusual ways, and the soundscapes are simple but rich. A young audience experiences new sensory impressions that easily capture and transport them into the world of imagination. The organic interplay between sound and light alternates to keep it exciting and unpredictable, and often, breaks and changes, at their best, can be experienced as truly magical.

The goal of the concert is to provide the audience with a memorable artistic experience of high quality, to open up wonder about what music can be, and for the audience to use their own imagination as part of the experience. The expression of the concert is meditative and slow-moving, inviting the audience into an analog expression, free from overstimulation and noise.

The music is simple and partly improvised, rich in content and atmospheric, consisting of both open associative landscapes, rhythmic, and more melodic sections.

Iridal is a synonym for rainbow and is chosen as a thematic starting point for the project. The rainbow is a symbol-laden natural phenomenon and represents a geometric-spatial order in a moving chaos. The title was chosen based on elements the artists wish to work with: frequencies, intensity, colors, atmospheres, and physiological responses. They are also seen to draw inspiration from the adventures, in an invented valley – Iridalen – where the most fantastic and fascinating things can happen.
