ØYA ~ lydstrømmer

Only Connect Trondheim 2025

By Anna Thu Schmidt & Øyvind Brandtsegg

Duration: 60 min
Friday 11. April 17:00
Lademoen Kunstnerverksteder
Welcome to an Interactive and Dynamic Soundscape at Store Prosjektrom, Lademoen Kunstnerverksted

ØYA ~ lydstrømmer focuses on tactile and visual encounters with sound, making it particularly accessible for individuals with hearing impairments. In this performance, various natural elements are activated and set in motion by sound and performers.

The audience is invited into the space to engage in their own exploration of sound and movement. The goal is to create an immersive performance experience through physical interaction with sound elements. Vibration plays a crucial role in tactile perception, triggering both physical and visual movement in natural materials.

Inspired by the unique sound and texture of sand and stones, the performance explores the independence and interconnectedness of each particle and its collective movement patterns through music and dance improvisation. Navigating between physical and sonic landscapes, the performers engage in a dialogue with the materials and each other, touching on themes such as leading and following, separation and unity, control and release, belonging and alienation.

ImproDans Trondheim aims to provide an open, free, and safe space for the exploration of movement and sound, as well as a platform for site-specific and interdisciplinary performances based on improvisation. ØYA is a new collaboration between Anna Thu Schmidt and Øyvind Brandtsegg, marking the project's first exploration of music technology within ImproDans Trondheim.
