By Daniel Mariblanca
Kunstnerisk utforskning knyttet til funksjonsnedsettelse og seksualitet
Language: English
Which bodies produce desire, and which are considered repulsive?
How does the use of language affect the way our bodies exist in each other’s imagination?
NORMAL researchis an artistic collaboration between Daniel Mariblanca, Maria Terese Kittilsen and Ursula Kaufman. Their artistic research revolves around a connection and dialogue surrounding topics of disability and sexuality. In this project they question how living with a disability affects and interacts with ideas of beauty standards, body representation and reproductive rights, as well as having access to a social, emotional and professional life.
This in-progress presentation of NORMAL researchwill consist of three parts: A demonstration of some of the choreographic research, followed by interviews with different people living with a disability, before closing with an open conversation with the audience.
Daniel Mariblanca was born in Barcelona 38 years ago. Since 2016 he has been based in Norway, working as a dancer for Carte Blanche, as well as developing his own company 71BODIES.
Maria Terese Kittilsen is a dance artist from Norway, specialized in teaching and training for dancers with different disabilities. She is also living with an invisible disability herself.
Ursula Kaufmann is a filmmaker based in Barcelona. Her work seeks to contribute to reversing the lack of representation for those collectives not included in the main privileges of the heteropatriarchal society. In her work she uses various discourses as documentary, fiction and other kinds of narrative formats.
