Teater Eureka is proud to present the film CODA as part of Rosendal cinema this autumn.
Seventeen-year-old Ruby (Emilia Jones) is the only hearing in an otherwise deaf family. She is what is called a CODA - Child Of Deaf Adults. A large part of Ruby's life revolves around being a translator for her parents (Marlee Matlin, Troy Kotsur), and working on the family's fishing boat every day before school with her father and brother (Daniel Durant). But when Ruby joins the school choir, she discovers an unusual musical and singing talent, and at the same time begins to fall for her singing partner Miles (Ferdia Walsh-Peelo).
When she is then encouraged by her music teacher to apply for a position at a prestigious music school, Ruby is put in a difficult and emotional squeeze between a sense of duty towards her deaf family, and a burning desire to follow her own dreams.

After the film, there will be a panel discussion with members from Teater Eureka and Trondheim Døveforbund (the Trondheim association for non-hearing).
The conversation will revolve around thoughts about the film and the reason to why Theater Eureka has chosen to show this particular one.
Two sign language interpreters will be present throughout the event.
This autumn, Rosendal Teater has invited two different groups to curate film evenings where they themselves stand for the film and the concept. We are very happy to work with Teater Eureka and Lamomat as curators for Rosendal cinema. Rosendal Teater has collaborated closely with Cinemateket Trondheim on Rosendal cinema this autumn.
