This Sonic Planet (installation)
Only Connect Trondheim 2025

About This Sonic Planet
A drop of silence is imperceptibly released into a time that reveals itself as white noise. A drop of space and distances and perspectives. A drop of attention and wonder. The drop of silence mixes with the noise, and the static begins to move. In waves. All the time, and everything within it, waves.
I notice how the sloshing time, between me and the walls of the old bathroom, meets the moment. The movements of the four-year-old boy, watching the water disappear down the drain, touch time and cause it to flow in another direction. Be the changes in order to exist, say the moments rippling around his tousled grain-colored hair.
The work was shown for the first time as part of Kunstfest Rotvoll 2024, curated by Kathrine Butcher and created by Heida Karine Johannesdottir Mobeck.
About the Artist
Heiða Karine Jóhannesdóttir Mobeck (b. 1987) is a Trønder musician (tuba) and composer working within genres such as jazz, improvisation, experimental pop, and art music. Her work focuses on how philosophy, relationships, social interaction, visual elements, and text can enrich musical expression and together create cohesive and political works. This exploration also extends through the record label Pluritone and other initiatives.
This Sonic Planet is one of our relaxed events, where the audience can experience an artwork in a calm setting. Visitors are free to come and go as they please while the installation is open, and the atmosphere will be marked by tranquility and reflection. The relaxed concept is supported by Balansekunst.
