Ways of arriving aRound (a) Table - Listening to stories with care

by Maryam Bagheri Nesami / Susanna Hast (IRN/FIN)

at NTNU Kalvskinnet

Varighet: 2 hours
- Listening to stories with care

Welcome to a hosted and careful community walk through Ways of arriving aRound (a) table as a place to share and listen to stories at the NTNU university campus area of Kalvskinnet in Trondheim. Equipped with a map, a playlist, a community to walk with, and hosts that will help navigating, you will be invited into a space for storytelling, listening, and embracing.

A roundtable is traditionally understood as a meeting or discussion where the aim is for all

participants to engage on equal terms and be given the chance to express their opinions.

Ways of arriving aRound (a) table is an event that departs from this understanding. The

event is a practice of care as a mode to embody and create a space that welcomes displaced and marginalized voices from the arts as well as from academia. It is also an event that celebrates and acknowledges walking as an ethical mode of arrival and sharing.

Ways of arriving aRound (a) Table will start at Sukkerhuset at Kalvskinnet, the Sugar House which connects Trondheim to the history of slave trade, and end up in the Scenekunstrom L125, a space for freedom and expression. The event is curated and facilitated by Maryam Bagheri Nesami and Susanna Hast. The presenting artists are Mitra Ziaeikia, Janaína Moraes, Kathy Barolsky, Tone Pernille Østern, Olaolu Lawal, Ronald Kibirige and Elen Øyen. The walk is dialogical and offers surprises. Mall dances, waitings, ponderings, wanderings, writings, readings, eating and more might turn up as ways of sharing and listening

The curators draw the concept of “around-ness” from Sara Ahmed’s book Queer

Phenomenology. This concept acknowledges partiality of the different knowledges present in a space. Around-ness encourages spiralling and non-linear modes of appearing and arriving.

Equipped with a map, a playlist, a community to walk with, and hosts that will help navigating, you will be invited into a space for storytelling, listening, and embracing. There is a suggested order of navigating the route through the map and the playlist; however, there is also possibility for deviations from the suggested order.

Please do not forget to bring your headphones.
