EUphoric Youth
Rosendal Teater is a partner in the four-year European cooperation project EUphoric Youth (2026–2029), supported by the EU’s Creative Europe programme. The project brings together leading performing arts institutions from across Europe, including national theatres and prestigious international platforms for contemporary performance.
The project is highly ambitious, with a bold and experimental spirit. It will be exciting to see how it evolves across such a diverse range of social and artistic contexts.
A European Collaboration
EUphoric Youth is coordinated by Rosendal Teater in Norway and carried out in collaboration with theatres, performing arts institutions, and festivals in the Netherlands, France, Latvia, Germany, Hungary, Belgium, Italy, and Portugal. The project will culminate in a presentation of its outcomes at the Festival d’Avignon in the summer of 2029.
Young People Set the Agenda
In 2027, Rosendal Teater will launch an open call for seven teenagers from Trondheim. The selected participants will spend three years collaborating with youth groups from other European countries, visiting international festivals, and developing their own artistic concepts.
The project will culminate in a series of events created by the youth groups in each partner country, before the results are presented to an international audience at the Festival d’Avignon in the summer of 2029.
Democracy in Practice
The format challenges traditional models of youth engagement in the arts by involving young people from the very beginning. Rather than inviting teenagers into pre-defined projects, EUphoric Youth gives them the opportunity to set the agenda and influence institutional structures and working methods over time.
The project’s long-term goal is to connect local young people with a broad European network while contributing to sustained capacity-building in the fields of arts, democracy, and participation.
The outcomes of the project include not only the artistic works and events created by the participants, but also the knowledge, experience, and research generated throughout the process. When the project concludes in 2029, an open-access toolkit for youth-led curating will be published and made freely available. The aim is for the experiences and methodologies developed across all partner countries to be adopted by arts institutions throughout Europe.
Further information about the open call and participation opportunities will be published during 2026.
