Relaxed Performances

Sign Language Interpretation

A sign language interpreter conveys what would otherwise be received through the sense of hearing. The extent to which a performance or activity is interpreted in sign language can vary – it might include all speech, song lyrics, and music, or only certain parts.

Audio Description

Audio description is a narration of the visual information that would otherwise be received through the sense of sight. In the context of a performance, the audio describer's task is to describe the visual elements of the performance so that audience members with visual impairments can experience and interpret a more nuanced artistic experience.

Touch Tour

A touch tour is a guided experience for audiences with visual impairments. The touch tour takes place in the performance space before the actual performance, where the set design, costumes, or other central elements are presented in a tactile and descriptive manner. The duration is usually around 30 minutes. A touch tour is often arranged in combination with an audio-described performance, but some performances may only offer one of these options.

Fidgets

Used by audience members to help them relax or focus better. A small object used to "play" with or hold in their hands. These can range from pens to an old toy. They will be available in a box at the ticket office that can be picked up anytime before our events. You can also find them in our relaxed space in marked boxes.

Relaxed Performance

Caters to anyone who finds standard theater performances and the typical etiquettes of being at the theater overwhelming and uncomfortable. Such accommodations mean that the venue and actors on stage adopt a relaxed attitude toward movement and sounds from the audience, audience members can come and go as they please, latecomers are allowed, and you can spend time in our relaxed space if needed during the performance.

Sensory-Friendly Performance

In addition to being able to move freely and get comfortable, this type of performance will adjust lighting, sound, and avoid smoke to make it sensory-friendly.

Relaxed space

The theater has a permanent relaxed space on the second floor of the new part of the building. This is a place where audience members and guests can stay if they need some quiet time away from social and noisy situations before and after performances. The space is designed to be comfortable and is separate from the foyer and café, which often have music and more people.

Content warning

A summary of potentially sensitive content in performances. These will help audience members who want to avoid content that might be physically or mentally challenging for them. Content descriptions can be found in a dropdown menu under the selected performance on the website.

Accessibility Rider

A set of accommodations the theater provides for artists performing on our stages. We encourage artists to send us their accessibility rider before their visit here.

Noise cancelling headphones

The theater has hearing protection available to audience members who need them during events, or for those who want to use them to block out noise while staying in our relaxed space.

Ledsager/Companion Ticket

A free companion ticket can be ordered both online and at the ticket office; remember to bring a valid companion certificate. Online, the companion ticket is under the ticket category "ordinary."

Tickets are easiest to purchase on our website www.rosendalteater.no before your visit. Physical ticket sales open at our ticket office just inside the main entrance of the new building, one hour before the first performance. This also applies when we have performances at locations other than Rosendal Theater. Be aware that performances may sell out, so get your ticket early.

Do you have questions about tickets? Send an email to billett@rosendalteater.no

Wheelchair Ticket

We have reserved two seats for wheelchair users at each performance. You will find the category "Wheelchair" when you book your ticket.

Contact

Contact the curating producer Tonje Wik Olaussen at tonje@rosendalteater.no if you have questions about accessibility and facilitation.
