AMPLIFIED EDITION N°2
by H2 DANCE (NO/SE/UK)
Performed in the round, the audience is free to come and go, while the dancers engage with tarpulin, a cheap everyday material, accummulating fantastic, explosive and dramatically beautiful images and sounds that continiously transform and never fixes. The choreography occurs in the meeting between bodies, voice, material and space. Moments of silence and tenderness, is juxtaposed with thunderous loud noises, as something is about to collapse.
Amplified Edition N°2 explores the potential for the material to transcend its normative function into an existence somewhere in between object and subject, between sculptural field and figurative presence. Using their voices performers create vocal choreographic landscapes, that stretch, slow down, speed up, break apart, distract and crash into one another, never quite reaching harmony. The work exists in the echoes and reverberations between performers, objects and visitors, and in the shifting transvaluation of incidental materiality.
This performance is the 2nd part of the Amplified Edition series. The first edition was based on the black box theatre and its secondary objects and materials. Amplified Editions premiered at Rosendal Theatre in October 2019, and Amplified Edition N°2 continues this series by investigating the utilitarian and omnipresent plastic.
