Bunkersen
By Teater Manu og Jo Strømgren (NO)
A dystopian theatre piece about the power of language
A dystopian theatre piece about power, language, and life on the wrong side of the majority.
The power of the majority begins with the cruel number three. Two against one. Never balance – always a loser.
The Bunker takes us into a future where hearing people are a marginalised minority, waging guerrilla war against a new Deaf elite. Two women and one man are locked together in a secret underground shelter. Tensions rise. Who is on which side? And what happens when gender, language and trust are all up for negotiation?
This new production from Teater Manu and Jo Strømgren places sign language at the heart of a tightly choreographed, physically expressive work. The Bunker is a sharp satire on linguistic power, majority rule, and the battle over who gets to define reality – in a future that hits close to home.
