Epiclogue
Køteren & Terrieren, consisting of Jonathan Ibsen & Bjørk-Mynte Paulse
Experience a physical and emotional landscape where bodies unite and enclose each other in boundless invincibility.
Epiclogue presents beginnings, lives out stories, and creates new myths. Through the concept of invulnerability, the artist duo attempts to carve out space for the queer body as strong, visible, and dominant. Experience a physical and emotional landscape where bodies unite and enclose each other in boundless invincibility.
Epiclogue explores what it takes, or perhaps costs, to take up the space that others are granted. The performance seeks to challenge restrictive mindsets about the queer body and is a response to what it means to exist as queer in a cis-heteronormative society.
Our ambition is to make queer bodies visible in ways we haven't seen them before. By rejecting the role of vulnerability, we fantasize about a speculative reality where familiar normative structures do not exist. We look for possibilities at the intersection of what is and what could have been.
– Jonathan Ibsen & Bjørk-Mynte Paulse on the performance
In Epiclogue, intimate encounters unfold, where bodies, through love, care, and mutual trust, find courage and will. The performance navigates a universe where the performers claim uncharted territory.
Om kunstnerne
The performance was developed by Køteren and Terrieren, consisting of Jonathan Ibsen and Bjørk-Mynte Paulse. Their artistic interest lies in challenging and questioning societal norms. Through the perspective of a trans woman of color and a white homosexual man, they examine the world we live in, and attempt to contextualize issues pivoting gender, sexuality, and identity. With curiosity and an unapologetic aesthetic, the duo boldly tackles questions that concern us all. Their ambition is to engage, challenge, and create dialogue through choreography and staging the reality we inhabit. Their practice is based on curiosity at the intersection of dance, theater, and installation, and they are focused on creating art that dares to put unfiltered, contemporary themes in the spotlight.
The performance is presented by DansiT and is a part of Multiplié Dance Festival 2025
Content description
Rosendal Theatre programs work that challenges what performing arts can be, where it takes place, and who creates it. We collaborate with voices that are less frequently heard, those that are marginalised and alternative. As a result, the performances often present challenging content and expressions. If you feel the need to leave the performance partway through, we maintain a low threshold and full understanding for this. On the second floor, you will find a relaxed zone where you can retreat. You can read more about the relaxed zone and accessibility here.
