initiated by Ashtar Theatre (Ramallah)
The Gaza Monologues were written by 33 young people in Gaza in 2010, as their response to the Israeli attack in 2008/2009. The initiators of the project were artistic director Iman Aoun (Jerusalem) and director Ali Abu Yassin (Gaza) of Ashtar Theatre. They are both actors, directors and playwrights, both of whom have been important for theater education in Palestine, in addition to actively using theater as trauma treatment for children.
The performance of The Gaza Monologues is part of an international campaign, initiated by Ashtar Theatre (Ramallah). In Norway, the monologues will be read from different stages and in different places throughout week 48.
The event will be held in Norwegian.
NB: The event has no age limit, but please note that the texts read have very strong content.
