Greetings from … Rosendal
by Jaap den Hertog / Teater Fusentast
After 2.5 decades of paper theater in a peepshow for four spectators at a time, Jaap den Hertog was struck by desire and wonder: is it possible to create an equally intimate, beautiful, and playful experience of community for more people, in a larger narrative with micro-theater that conveys current content in a surprising aesthetic, stimulates empathic abilities, and allows us to discover something essential about ourselves, our surroundings, and the spirit of the times? And at the same time, laugh at our tragically grotesque contemporary society? He hopes he will succeed for a full 20 spectators, 25 minutes at a time. With his fuse-fantastic flair, Jaap den Hertog has, during and the COVID-19 era, conjured up magnificent three-dimensional moving stage sets in miniature format for stories that could be true about the place where we find ourselves. After three years of romping with tales and essential narratives, GREETINGS FROM… premiered on January 26, 2024, during the Puppet Festival in Tønsberg.
GREETINGS FROM… will be Jaap's last self-produced show, think of it as a fuse-fantastic dessert. After 40 years as a puppeteer, the itch still persists, and he will be available for involvement in others' projects.
With GREETINGS FROM…, he concludes his own exploration of the many branches within puppetry, figure, and micro-theater.
The performance is recommended for adults and teenagers from 10 years old.
