grief will be our companion

av Geir Hytten (NO)

Varighet: 70 min
We must learn to live with ecological grief as a companion, where we learn to inherit the earth without denial and to remain in the trouble of a ruined or damaged reality.

Choreographer and dancer Geir Hytten has invited scenographer and lighting designer Corentin JPM Leven, musician Kristoffer Lislegaard, dancer Jacob Ingram-Dodd and artistic catalyst Terje Tjøme Mossige to a daily artist practice to see if it can create a physical connection to the social changes we consider necessary to create a sustainable future.

In a risky stage room, they explore the interplay between tactile and imaginary physical textures, where movements both occur and are destroyed in an eternal round dance. This both beautiful and violent process is inspired by the component humus in the earth's crust, and the audience is invited to a scenic experiment on how we can approach an embodiment that extends beyond the moment to a timeless body.

Grief will be our companion suggests with this as a backdrop that we must learn to live with ecological grief as a companion, where we learn to inherit the earth without denial and to remain in the trouble of a ruined or damaged reality. Together we will dwell on loss, be grateful for what it means, and then see how we ourselves must change and renew our relationships in order to move forward.

This performance is part of Multiplié dance festival 2022 which is presented by DansiT.
