IGGY – Virkeligheten slår tilbake
By Blaue & Poppy
Based on the novel by Edy Poppy, with the writer and her husband in all roles.
The performance raises uncomfortable questions about identity, creative power, and the choices we make – or are forced to make – in art and life. In a radical way, the aborted "Iggy" is reborn, not as a child, but as a work of art, a bodily manifestation of all the ambivalence that comes with choosing art over a conventional life. No, this is not a flirtation with biological reproduction, but a flirtation with life, an exploration and a self-discovery.
Maka Dolidze, review in Dagsavisen (excerpt)
Exploring the boundaries of the individual’s self-exposure in the service of art is the duo's theatrical mission. Their work often challenges the influence of capitalism on art, while simultaneously questioning the artist's involvement in the system they seek to critique. Through performance that blends self-examination with sharp social criticism, they offer a deeper reflection on the role of art in today's economic and social reality.
Blaue & Poppy emerge as a powerful force in experimental theater art, confronting both the audience and themselves with paradoxes. Their performances are often a form of social study, right on the border between the individual and society.
Through "Iggy - Reality Strikes Back," the duo once again proves that with their intense and introspective performances, they pull the audience into a sphere where questions of identity, the role of art, and societal structures are examined closely. For those who wish to delve into the intersection of art and reality, this is an experience that will linger long after the final line is spoken.
Maka Dolidze, review in Dagsavisen (excerpt)
"The novel 'Iggy' is written with a powerful and fascinating drive; it is existential and intense." Guri Hjeltnes, VG (Rating: 5)
"There are not many Norwegian novels about lustful, whiskey-drinking women writers who also discuss their longing for children. Author Edy Poppy plays with and challenges both art and life in a whirlwind of a novel."
- Hanne Kristin Wolden, Klassekampen
"There is something playfully light and seductively daring about Edy Poppy’s 'Iggy.' The novel offers enjoyable reading, steamy sex, and some sad but true realizations. Words like shameless and boundless can be added."
- Turid Larsen, Dagsavisen

Loud music, blackout, themes containing sexual nature, abortion, infidelity and open relationships.
Rosendal Theatre programs work that challenges what performing arts can be, where it takes place, and who creates it. We collaborate with voices that are less frequently heard, those that are marginalised and alternative. As a result, the performances often present challenging content and expressions. If you feel the need to leave the performance partway through, we maintain a low threshold and full understanding for this. On the second floor, you will find a relaxed zone where you can retreat. You can read more about the relaxed zone and accessibility here.
