PREMIERE: Klasserommet
by Cirka Teater (NO)
For adults, and children over 12 years of age accompanied by adults!
«We were 24 students. We had the same teacher in all subjects. The "Miss" was about 60 years old, commanding, authoritarian. She demanded discipline, and used the rage as a weapon against unwanted behavior. We spent school time in a classroom where fear and shame grew.»
In "Klasserommet", the memories and fragments of stories are gathered in a jigsaw puzzle of a story. The performance is a lush, colorful and partly documentary time picture of vulnerable children and their teacher, a relationship characterized by power and abuse of power. The schoolyard and the classroom are the setting for everything that happens. The stories are experienced from the children's perspective, and from the adult reflective flashback. But also "Miss"'s voice is allowed to be heard: In the 60s, strong values are on a collision course, and the authoritarian teacher's values meet with great resistance. The "miss" is experiencing a complete upheaval of her professional life. On the other side of the 60s, children and young people are given a completely new place in society, and the role of teacher is redefined. The "Miss"'s foundation cracks.
With live music on stage, clever storytelling and visual play with objects and space, actress Anne Marit Sæther shows us how the power of art can change our relationship to history.
