Only Connect Trondheim 2025
By Alex Ventling, Nicolas Leirtrø and Pekka Stokke
Led by pianist Alex Ventling, the performance transforms the underwater world into a fascinating 360-degree film showing of light and sound. The audience is invited to dive in and travel together with the performers as they navigate through exciting underwater landscapes. You can expect large waves of ambient soundscapes and organic visual interactions in this unique performance, which had its Norwegian premiere at Dokkhuset Scene in 2023.
Alex Ventling from New Zealand is a pianist/composer and film artist who has lived in Trondheim for 2 years. His connection to the sea from New Zealand led him to create KOHERU, which aims to promote ocean awareness and focus on ocean protection. Due to his multimedia background, his projects have evolved from concerts to multimedia performances. He studied his master's degree at the Rhythmic Music Conservatory, Copenhagen, and Jazzlinja Trondheim and plays in music projects like Wavemakers, Trinkets, and the Gard Kronborg Group.
One of Norway's most exciting musicians, Nicolas Leirtrø is a baritone guitarist and double bassist, composer, and improviser based in Trondheim. He is known for bands such as I LIKE TO SLEEP, Veslemøy Narvesen’s We Don’t Imagine Anymore, Dafnie, Maria Norseth Garli, etc.
Pekka Stokke is a Norwegian artist who works with light in a broad sense. With a background in performing arts, he works with installations, decorations, sculpture, and artistic strategies for urban space design – in addition to concerts and other stage activities.
