Nothing Special
By Halvard Damm Laupstad
An exhibition about the everyday stuff, taking place all season, all over town.
“Hey, what did you do this weekend?”
“Nothing Special.”
The exhibition Nothing Special begins with a simple answer—and opens the door to something more. Artist Halvard Damm Laupstad spends his weekends watching funny animal videos online. Now, he’s transformed this everyday habit into art—through colourful pen and marker drawings that capture the exact moment the video becomes funny. Just before the laughter hits.
This autumn, Halvard’s drawings will appear all over Trondheim—in a season-long exhibition unfolding across galleries and unexpected corners of the city. You might spot one in a lift, a bus shelter or on a fridge in your local shop. Surprising, subtle, and embedded in daily life—just like the videos they’re based on.
Nothing Special is a playful and personal tribute to the internet, to the everyday, and to the things we might not think of as special—but that still matter.
