Pride Operakafé

Pride is celebrated at the first Opera Café of the season at Rosendal

What can you expect? At Operakafé you will be served a varied program with known and unknown gems from opera and musicals, in relaxed and pleasant surroundings.

Mezzo-soprano, Maria Dale Johannessen she/her, and soprano, Therese-Angelle Khachik they/them - just returned from their UK debut where they performed 'The Merry Wives of Windsor - a guerrilla opera' at Grimeborn Opera Festival. @skeivestemmer

"The Merry Wives of Windsor have, in fact, every right to be glad, cheerful and even a little bit euphoric. Because not only has this production done justice to Otto Nicolai’s singspiel magnum opus – it’s been taken to a whole new level through a most remarkable performance." Guillermo Nazara First Night Magazine

"Joining Heydorn are Therese-Angelle Khachik and Mara Dale Johannessen as Mrs Ford and Mrs Page respectively. Hilariously bantering back and forth and with fantastic voices to suit, they are a classic pair. Khachik especially serves soprano sensationalism, filling the Arcola with her incredible voice with clarity and lyricism that most sopranos would kill for." Raphael Kohn, All That Dazzles

.“Underpinning the additional musical adornments (mentioned above) which make this a more queerly vocal rendition are the singers’ solid, conventional musicianship". ... "Cheerful interaction between the performers, and a vivaciously radical reimagining of the opera offers the chance for a stimulating re-engagement with a work not now often seen in the UK.” Classical source Curtis Rogers 20.7.23
