Psychedelic Cave is a choreographic and electroacoustic work with and by women, set in a darkened space.

Choreographer and dancer Mia Habib explores the cave as a renewed refuge, a space for community and magical rituals.

The work stems from time spent in real caves and encounters with prehistoric cave paintings, including in Solsemhula, Skåren-Monsenhula, Refsvikhula, Chauvet, Lascaux, and Altamira. It is here, in the dark, among stone and earth, that the piece has found its language.

The piece invites the audience into a scenic cave, a world where the darkness holds a demon-like physicality and sound. Here, taboos dissolve, the ritual becomes a portal to the inner demon, a promise of transformation, a glance into the darkness of darkness.

The performance is developed by the artistic team, in collaboration with archaeologist Hein Bjerck, and has also been inspired by figures and objects from the Stone Age, such as the Brummer from Tuv and the Venus of Willendorf.
