Soft Ice
by Janne Eraker (NO)
Quiet is the new loud
Soft Ice draws your eyes and ears close to the dance floor, creating shape-shifting figures that appear in the moment — suddenly — before disappearing, like fleeting cursive writing. Quiet is the new loud.
Soft Ice is a performance with three dancers and a guitar player on stage exploring the movement vocabulary of tap dance, making it grow from the floor and into a three-dimensional space. Imagine shoes that behave like magnets. Traditional tap steps like slides and scrapes become mesmerizing. It demandis precise technique, the perfect pair of shoes, and just the right floor. In Soft Ice, tap dance is reimagined—transformed into something fluid, unpredictable, and utterly captivating.
Choreographer Janne Eraker focuses on a particular part of the vocabulary of tap dance, namely slides, scrapes, and drags, and the audience is invited to experience the dance form in a new way. Together with a guitarist, the three dancers create a dynamic soundscape of both whisper-quiet to percussive intensity. The performance can even be enjoyed as a concert – with your eyes closed.
There will be an artist talk after the performance 23rd of January
