Ungraspable yet felt with intensity. The Basement is a fictional space originating from true events. Making visible the invisible.

Ungraspable yet felt with intensity. The Basement is a fictional space originating from true events. Making visible the invisible.
This solo work explores the multiple realities and fictions that arise from the dynamics expressed when power relationships are morphed. It is intuition led; allowing the body to speak through physical expression and freedom.

The practice of freedom; personal and artistic.
A freedom that requires labor, courage and urgency to expand beyond imposed limits of acceptability, legitimacy or beauty.

“...having full agency of my body yet being fearless in my vulnerability. Exposing vulnerability as a strength. A process that needed solitude in the making, in order to understand how to collectively share this journey. This work is essentially about liberation. Reality and fiction coexisting at the same time. Erasing borders of what is real and what has been created. In order to connect through a shared liberation an internal revolution must happen.” ~Daniel Mariblanca1

Content description

Loud noises and music, strobe light, intense imagery, explicid nudity, stage blood, use of masks.

Rosendal Theatre programs work that challenges what performing arts can be, where it takes place, and who creates it. We collaborate with voices that are less frequently heard, those that are marginalised and alternative. As a result, the performances often present challenging content and expressions. If you feel the need to leave the performance partway through, we maintain a low threshold and full understanding for this. On the second floor, you will find a relaxed zone where you can retreat. You can read more about the relaxed zone and accessibility here.
