The Jazz Togetherness Show
by Cosmic Swing Orchestra
an interdisciplinary performance about self-improvement, apocalypse, and community
“The Jazz Togetherness Show” is an interdisciplinary performance about self-improvement, apocalypse, and community, written by Petter Dalane.
We follow a charismatic hypnotist who is driven to madness by his faith in the free market and self-optimization, before ultimately finding both his own and the world’s salvation in the musical fellowship of the big band.
Since 2018, Cosmic Swing Orchestra has blended music, satire, and performance art, and The Jazz Togetherness Show is their largest production to date.
In a time marked by global crises, climate anxiety, and a relentless chase for self-optimization, we are drowning in advice on how to become better, healthier, and more successful. Influencers, consumers, and technocrats dance toward the apocalypse in pursuit of the best possible version of themselves.
The performance is a satirical and absurd commentary on the self-help culture and the contrast between the crises surrounding us and the sleek superficiality of our era, showing how music can serve as a force in confronting it.
