The Pond
by Parallax & Dembacke
Embark on an improvised journey through light and music that creates space for free association, presence, and community.
Inspired by futuristic and abstract expressions, the performance explores a visual and musical language through improvisation, where the goal is to create atmospheres that invite free association and wonder.
Recycling plays a central role; instruments and visual objects are made from recycled materials – from an old spinning wheel with metal fittings to a rattling cardboard box full of bottle caps. Shadows and close-ups of the objects, projected on stage, create a vibrant and playful universe.
The associations reach both to Reodor Felgen and artists like Jean Tinguely and Piet Mondrian, drawing inspiration from the "found objects" tradition. The audience embarks on an improvised journey through light and music that creates space for free association, presence, and community. The performers show how everyday objects are given new life and how light and sound interact with one another.
The Pond is a collaboration between the improvisation trio Parallax and lighting artist Evelina Dembacke, continuing the success of the popular performance Lydrommet, with over 1000 performances. This is contemporary art for both children and adults – a sensory experience that captivates across ages and allows for free imagination.
Content description
Rosendal Theatre programs work that challenges what performing arts can be, where it takes place, and who creates it. We collaborate with voices that are less frequently heard, those that are marginalised and alternative. As a result, the performances often present challenging content and expressions. If you feel the need to leave the performance partway through, we maintain a low threshold and full understanding for this. On the second floor, you will find a relaxed zone where you can retreat. You can read more about the relaxed zone and accessibility here.
