Memento nati – remember you have been born
How do we pass on knowledge and experiences that go beyond language, that are sacred and hidden?
The Mothership is an invitation to the brutal and tender experience of the bodies that birth us and the liminal space of being inside a body and becoming a body of our own.
Through the well known motive in art history, memento mori - remember you must die, our collective narrative has been informed by the path to destruction and impermanence.
But the Mothership offers an eternal opening, a rift between this world and the one we come from. It asks, what if the world was run by midwives? It speaks to and from the post partum body and it asks us to question how we value care.
We invite everyone to enter our archive to read, listen, watch, sit, walk or lie down.
Not everyone has given birth, but everyone has been born. Memento nati - remember that you must be born.
